We had the opportunity to participate in our first bridal show event this last weekend. It was such a fun experience and allowed us to meet so many beautiful brides. But more than brides, we had the opportunity to meet some lovely people in the bridal industry here on the peninsula. I know, this is a bay area post, but for those of you reading outside the area, this post still has a lot of great information. It has been 7 years this June since I got married, and being back in the trenches with all the options and bridal booths reminded me of how confusing and daunting planning a wedding can be. I was reminded of these 3 things that are important to a wedding that are often overlooked; a fun bachelorette party, day of coordination and music.
1. Bachelorette Party
My little sister actually planned my bachelorette party for me, which was amazing! This is maybe the most important thing for a wedding, but probably the easiest thing to forget! I planned my own wedding and since I had planned weddings in the past, I thought I knew everything! However, even I forgot this. I was so busy planning everything out step by step, I forgot that I could not coordinate my big day on my own. I needed someone there to tell everyone when it was time to walk down the aisle, make sure all the vendors arrived and executed my vision, and generally make sure things run perfectly. I know I might be the only one that forgot about music, but on the off chance that I am not, I thought I would add this point. I was so busy planning the decorations, food, flowers, that I left music to the last minute. Luckily my brother-in-law stepped up and took this off my plate, but if it wasn’t for him, our wedding would have lacked music. :-( A great DJ or Band who can emcee and provide entertainment is a gem! They will keep your event moving forward and ensure everyone has a good time.
